MANIFESTO

i am OTHERBy Pharrell Williams
I serve and represent the OTHERS because I am one myself.
OTHERS defy expectations and stereotypes. We are curious, ambitious, energetic and have every intention of squeezing the most out of life. Above all, we are individuals.
OTHERS don’t fit into categories. We are not jocks. Or skaters. Or musicians. Or students. Or technologists. Or audiophiles. We want to be all of the above and then some.
OTHERS are a diverse group of optimistic, bright minds connected by technology and a desire to make our mark, who together can advance culture and even humanity.
OTHERS are not defined by demographics or geography. We have shared ideals, dreams and a vision for a new reality.
OTHERS believe individuality is the new wealth. Experiences are the new assets to acquire. Whoever is the most individual wins.
i am OTHER celebrates people who push society forward. The thinkers. The innovators. The outcasts. History has proven that it’s the rule breakers who have the power to change the world.
Be OTHER

Her outlets provide followers with advice, how to´s, and inspiration.
The video "Chasing Dreams" is a feature she created to inspire others to keep following their dreams, as she did. It pieces together a great story through footage from her fashion travels. Proving that what Woody Allen said is true,"the only thing standing between greatness and me, is me."

Web wednesday: Barber.nl

For this weeks Web Wednesday I have chosen to highlight Barber.nl. It´s the website for a great company that is spreading the revival of the traditional straight shave. Barbers motto “ We believe every man needs some time for himself, and we believe in the luxury of a good old straight razor shave or trim.” is one I can really get behind. I hate to shave as much as anyone but this is a great gift for yourself.

Not only can you get your own personal straight shave here with a hot coffee, glass of whiskey, or cold beer you can also attend the Barber Academy.  Barber hosts lessons on giving yourself a straight shave as well as others for those looking to pick up a new trade.
The Barber.nl site is full of great pictures and information check it out and well as the online shop where you can find mens personal care products.

Tuesdays Recipe: Broccoli Parmesan Fritters

Broccoli Parmesan Fritters
Adapted from The Smitten Kitchen Recipe

Serving Size: four to five good sized fritters

This recipe was my first attempt at making fritters, and now both it and fritters have become favorites. They are quick, easy to make, and absolutely delicious. You can eat them with an extra pinch of parmesan on top, a squeeze of Sriracha for spice, or my personal favorite with a sunny side up egg on top.

225 grams fresh broccoli
1 large egg
65 grams all-purpose flour
30 grams finely grated parmesan cheese
1 small clove garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt or to taste
A pinch of cayenne pepper or several grinds of black pepper
Olive or vegetable oil for frying

Prepare your broccoli: Separate the florets from the biggest stem then cut the florets into 2 cm chunks. To prepare the stems, peel them as the skin can be thick and doesn’t cook at the same rate as the florets, then slice them into 1 cm lengths.
Steam your broccoli until tender. Drain the broccoli and set aside.
In the bottom of a large bowl, lightly beat your egg. Add the flour, cheese, garlic, salt and pepper, and broccoli. Using a potato masher, mash the broccoli. Mash it until the chunks are still identifiable. Once mashed, stir or fold the ingredients together the rest of the way with a spoon. Adjust seasonings to taste.
Heat a large, heavy skillet over moderate heat. Once hot, add a good slick of oil. Once the oil is good and hot, scoop a 30 mL-size mound of the batter and drop it into the pan, then flatten it slightly. Repeat with additional batter, leaving a couple inches between each. Once the bottom is browned, about 3 to 5 minutes, flip each fritter and cook on the other side until equally golden.

Transfer briefly to paper towels to drain. You can keep them warm in the oven or serve immediately. See above for topping suggestions.

For this Mondays media highlight we have chosen a great video by one of my favorite blogs Grungy Gentelman

This video highlights Del Toro Shoes and the lifestyle of Matthew Chevallard, its Co-Founder and Creative Director. Inspiration for the brand is drawn from a combination of Matthew’s Italian heritage, a Palm Beach prep aesthetic from his childhood, and edgy New York and Japanese street style. Del Toro offers an array of products for people who are seeking refined contemporary footwear and accessories.

This video is a great way to get a feeling for the brand, I strongly suggest you watch it and check out the website www.deltoroshoes.com.

Media Mondays: How to tie a Bow Tie.

I always enjoy a good bow tie, and this is a cheeky video to help you tie your own.
